Swedish Antique Engraving (1796)
We found this handsome engraving in Sweden, featuring Swedish politican Clas Frietzcky. Clas Frietzcky (1727–1803) was a skilled business owner but left this profession to engage in politics. He became one of the leading people for the aristocratic opposition, which defended the rights of the Swedish Parliament to the king. He became the main opponent to king Gustav III on the issue of alcohol.
The engraving was made in 1796 by the renowned Swedish engraver, John Fredrik Martin. (His services were often used by the Swedish Royal establishment).
Measures: Approx. 9.5" h, 7" w.
Excellent condition. Minimal wear consistent with age.
Will look amazing framed.
